Route 201 Accident Victims

Recently there was a horrible accident which took the lives of four teenagers and left another teenager fighting for his life. They were all Griswold High School students. The Jewett City and Griswold Fire Depts got together and held a boot drive to benefit the families. To date, we have raised over $69,000. And donations are still coming in.
We cannot express our thanks enough to everyone that helped out with the benefit, the businesses that dontated food, drinks, etc to the Firefighters. And especially to the individuals and businesses that donated to this cause. Our heart felt thank you to all!!

Marine funeral
It was an honor when we were asked to participate in services for Lance Corp. Tyler Griffin, a marine that was killed in Iraq serving his country. RIP Tyler. Our Dept was asked to hang a flag from our ladder truck along with Taftville Fire Dept. on the day Tyler was brought home to Voluntown, also on the day of the funeral. We also along with many other Depts., were at the funeral of Lance Corp Griffin. Many condolences to the family and friends and thank you for letting us be part of the services. We are all proud of him
